realultimatepowerWe’ve already seen the Martial Power sourcebook for Fighters, Rangers, Rogues, and Warlords. We also know others in the “Power” series are coming: Arcane PowerDivine Power, and Primal Power are all on the schedule.

However, that’s not all. Our sources* have uncovered pages from an upcoming supplement designed to change 4e 4ever forever. Yes, Real Ultimate Power will soon be coming to a store near you. This sourcebook details the users of the Real Ultimate power source. The iconic user of this power source is the Ninja of course, but we have also found that the book will include options for your Pirate and Cowboy characters that also draw on, in the words of the book, “the essence of totally sweet awesomeness.”

Here’s what the Ninja character class looks like:

Role: Striker. The purpose of a Ninja is to flip out and kill people.
Power Source: Real Ultimate.
Key Abilities: Dexterity, Charisma, Strength

Armor Proficiencies: Ninja Outfit
Weapon Proficiencies: Katana, Wakasashi, Shuriken, Anything
Bonus to Defense: +2 Reflex

Hit Points at First Level: 12 + Constitution Score
Hit Point per Level Gained: 5
Healing Surges per Day: 6+ Constiution Modifier

Trained Skills: Stealth. From the class skills below, choose 4 more trained skills at 1st level.
Class Skills: Stealth (Dex),  Stealth (Dex), Stealth (Dex), Stealth (Dex), Stealth (Dex), Stealth (Dex), Stealth (Dex).

Class features: Mammals, Fight all the time, Purpose of a ninja.

Mammal: Ninjas are subject only to effects that specifically target mammals.

Fight all the time: Effects that last until the end of the encounter never end for a ninja.

Purpose of a Ninja: If you are using Stealth and are undetected by an enemy you are attacking, you add bonus damage to the attack. 1st-10th Level: +2d6 Damage, 11th-20th: +3d6 Damage, 21st-30th: +5d6 Damage.

Ninja Attack 1
Most of their free time is spent flying…

Target: One creature
Attack:Dexterity vs. Reflex
Hit: 1[W] + Dexterity modifier damage. You may fly up to your speed before and after the attack.
Level 21: 2[W] + Dexterity modifier damage.
Ninja Attack 1
…but sometimes they stab.
At-Will; Ki
Standard Action Melee Melee Weapon
Target: One creature
Attack:Dexterity vs. AC
Hit: 2[W] + Dexterity modifier damage.
Level 21: 4[W] + Dexterity modifier damage.
Miss: This has never happened to a ninja.
Flip Out
Ninja Attack 1
You should know by now what the purpose of a ninja is.
At-Will; Ki
Standard Action Melee Close Burst 1
Target: All creatures in burst.
Attack:Dexterity vs. AC
Hit: Target is killed.
Cut Off Head
Ninja Attack 1
Ninjas cut off heads ALL the time and don’t even think twice about it.
Daily; Weapon, Ki
Standard Action Ranged 20
Target: One creature
Hit: You teleport to the target’s square, and kill it.

There you have it, everything needed to play a 1st level Ninja. While some may accuse the book of containing some measure of so-called “power creep”, I wouldn’t think twice about letting a ninja into my party. After all, they’re fast, smooth, cool, strong, powerful, and sweet.

We’ll see if our confidential sources can deliver any more information on this upcoming book. Theories are currently that Pirates are the Real Ultimate Leader and Cowboys are the Real Ultimate Defender (at last, a ranged defender, and firearm rules for 4e.)

* = Our sources, in this case, being our imaginations.
